The WPL 2027 mini-auction was held in Kochi on October 28, with five franchises filling most of their remaining slots ahead of the new season. A total of 25 players were sold for Rs 6.25 crore, while Australia all-rounder Sophie Molineux emerged as the most expensive buy at Rs 1.10 crore.
A total of 150 players had registered for the auction, but only 72 went under the hammer. Of those, 47 remained unsold, meaning just 25 players found buyers. Most franchises focused on value buys, with 22 of the 25 sales happening at the players’ base price.
Highest Bids of WPL 2027 Auction
Sophie Molineux was the biggest attraction of the auction. The Australian all-rounder, who had registered at a base price of Rs 50 lakh, triggered a bidding war and was eventually bought by UP Warriorz for Rs 1.10 crore—more than double her base price.
Kiran Navgire was the second most expensive player. The Maharashtra batter, who had a base price of Rs 40 lakh, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 75 lakh. Shweta Sehrawat was the only other player to go above her base price, with Mumbai Indians signing her for Rs 20 lakh against a base price of Rs 10 lakh.

Key signings and what they bring:
- Jess Jonassen (Rs 40 lakh): The Australian left-arm spinner and experienced all-rounder adds control in the middle overs and depth in batting. Her ability to bowl tight lines and contribute with the bat makes her a valuable addition for RCB.
- Chloe Tryon (Rs 30 lakh): The South African power-hitter brings explosive middle-order batting and handy left-arm spin. She can change the course of a game in a few overs.
- Tejal Hasabnis (Rs 30 lakh): A promising Indian batter who adds depth to RCB’s domestic batting unit and gives the team more options in the middle order.
- Vrinda Dinesh (Rs 10 lakh): A young uncapped player who adds further batting depth and gives RCB a low-cost backup option.
RCB already had a strong core with Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh and Shreyanka Patil. The additions of Jonassen and Tryon give them more flexibility in both batting and bowling.
Mumbai Indians (MI)
Mumbai Indians made the most economical signings, adding six players—all at their base price of Rs 10 lakh each. They also acquired England bowler Tara Norris from UP Warriorz through a trade deal before the auction.
Full squad: Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Matthews, Amanjot Kaur, Nicola Carey, Shabnim Ismail, Sajeevan Sajana, Sanskriti Gupta, Rahila Firdous, Vaishnavi Sharma, Tara Norris, Disha Kasat, Latika Inamdar, Bharti Rawal, Saanika Chalke, Shweta Sehrawat, Akshita Bhagat.
Key signings and what they bring:
- Shweta Sehrawat (Rs 20 lakh): The India U19 star was the only MI player bought above base price. A top-order batter, she adds youth and potential to the squad.
- Disha Kasat (Rs 10 lakh): A promising Indian batter who gives MI more options in the middle order.
- Latika Inamdar (Rs 10 lakh): A wicketkeeper-batter who adds depth to MI’s keeping department.
- Bharti Rawal (Rs 10 lakh): An uncapped player who adds further depth to the squad.
- Saanika Chalke (Rs 10 lakh): A young talent who gives MI more options in the bowling department.
- Akshita Bhagat (Rs 10 lakh): Another uncapped signing who adds depth and competition within the squad.
MI already had a strong core with Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews. Their focus in the auction was clearly on adding depth rather than chasing big names.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
Delhi Capitals made four signings, with Kiran Navgire being the most expensive at Rs 75 lakh. They also added Uma Kashvi, Kirstie Gordon and Nazma Khan, all at Rs 10 lakh each.
Full squad: Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland, Laura Wolvaardt, Chinelle Henry, Minnu Mani, Niki Prasad, N Sree Charani, Mamatha Madiwala, Deeya Yadav, Nandni Sharma, Lucy Hamilton, Kiran Navgire, Uma Kashvi, Kirstie Gordon, Nazma Khan.
Key signings and what they bring:
- Kiran Navgire (Rs 75 lakh): One of the most explosive batters in Indian domestic cricket, Navgire is known for her power-hitting and ability to clear the boundary with ease. Her inclusion gives DC a dangerous option at the top or in the middle order.
- Uma Kashvi (Rs 10 lakh): A young uncapped player who adds depth to DC’s bowling attack.
- Kirstie Gordon (Rs 10 lakh): The Scotland left-arm spinner gives DC flexibility as an Associate player, allowing them to field her as a fifth overseas option.
- Nazma Khan (Rs 10 lakh): Another uncapped signing who adds variation to DC’s bowling unit.
DC had a strong squad already, but their decision not to sign a specialist wicketkeeper could be a point of discussion, as they only had Mamatha Madiwala in that role before the auction.

UP Warriorz (UPW)
UP Warriorz were the busiest team in the auction, signing eight players. They spent the most money, with Sophie Molineux being their marquee buy at Rs 1.10 crore.

Key signings and what they bring:

Gujarat Giants (GG)
Gujarat Giants made only three signings, as they already had one of the most complete squads going into the auction. They signed G Kamalini for Rs 40 lakh, Orla Prendergast for Rs 30 lakh and Samaira Raghav for Rs 10 lakh.
Full squad: Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine, Renuka Singh, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Kim Garth, Georgia Wareham, Yastika Bhatia, Kanika Ahuja, Kashvee Gautam, Tanuja Kanwer, Jintimani Kalita, Bharti Fulmali, Happy Kumari, Anushka Sharma, G Kamalini, Orla Prendergast, Samaira Raghav.
Key signings and what they bring:
- G Kamalini (Rs 40 lakh): A promising young wicketkeeper-batter who adds depth to GG’s batting and gives them another option behind the stumps.
- Orla Prendergast (Rs 30 lakh): The Ireland all-rounder brings balance with both bat and ball, though she may face tough competition for a place in the XI given GG’s strong overseas options.
- Samaira Raghav (Rs 10 lakh): A young uncapped player who adds depth and competition within the squad.
GG already had a strong core with Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine and Renuka Singh. Their main challenge now will be managing a squad with plenty of options and settling on the best playing XI.
