Amid ongoing violence outside, approximately 2,500 men, women, and children have sought refuge at a temple near Haryana’s Gurugram.

The violence erupted during a religious procession, the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Nuh, adjoining Gurugram. A group of young men obstructed the procession on the Gurugram-Alwar National Highway, leading to stone-throwing and chaos.

The situation escalated with cars being set on fire, and the police had to intervene using tear gas and firing shots in the air. Around 20 people have been injured, and one person has been shot and is being evacuated.

In response to the situation, internet services have been suspended, and prohibitory orders against large gatherings have been issued. The police have called for reinforcements to restore order.

As the violence escalated, the mob targeted both government and private vehicles in the area.

At present, the approximately 2,500 individuals who had come to participate in the religious procession have sought refuge at the Nulhar Mahadev temple. Their vehicles are parked outside, but due to the intensity of the situation, the police have been unable to evacuate them safely.
As evening approached, the violence extended to the Gurugram-Sohna highway, with numerous cars being set on fire, and the police also faced stone-throwing, according to sources.
According to reports, the clash was initiated by an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist.
According to sources, Monu Manesar, a Bajrang Dal member, along with his associates, who are suspected to be involved in various criminal cases, had circulated the controversial video a few days ago. Monu Manesar openly issued a challenge, stating that he would stay in Mewat during the yatra.
Numerous individuals are claiming to have witnessed their presence during the yatra, and local residents allegedly retaliated in response to this situation.
