Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has defended her high-level security cover, saying that she is not just a star, but also a vocal and concerned citizen.

Ranaut’s security cover was upgraded to Y-plus in 2020, after she had a public spat with Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. The actor has since claimed that she has received death threats, and that her life is in danger.
The Y-plus security cover includes two CRPF commandoes, armed with automatic weapons, who protect an individual all the time while one CRPF personnel is deployed at the residence of the individual.
In a recent Twitter exchange, Ranaut responded to a user who questioned her security cover. The user said that Ranaut was “just a Bollywood star” and that she did not deserve such high-level security.

Ranaut responded by saying that she is not just a star, but also a writer, producer, and social activist. She said that she has spoken out against “tukde tukde gang” and Khalistani groups, and that her next production, Emergency, involves Operation Bluestar.
Ranaut also said that she was the target of political malice in Maharashtra, and that the “nationalists” could make a government in the state “at her expense.”
Ranaut’s tweets have sparked a debate on social media, with some people supporting her decision to speak out about her security, while others have criticized her for being self-serving.

One Twitter user said, “Kangana Ranaut is right to speak out about her security. She is a public figure and she has been the target of threats in the past. She has a right to feel safe.”
Another Twitter user said, “Kangana Ranaut is just trying to get attention. She is not really in danger. She is just using her security to make herself look important.”
The Union Home Ministry has not yet commented on Ranaut’s security cover.
