Who can download an e-PAN?

  • Individuals who have applied for a PAN card through NSDL, UTIITSL or the Income Tax e-filing website.
  • Individuals who have received their PAN card physically and want a digital copy.

What do you need to Download Pan Card?

  • A valid PAN number or Acknowledgement number.
  • Aadhaar Card Number. (Only for individual)
  • Registered mobile number or email address linked to your PAN.

It is important to note that downloading the e-PAN card is free only if it was issued within the last month on a fresh PAN application or change/correction request. However, for any other case, applicants who want to download the e-PAN through NSDL or UTIITSL need to make an online payment of INR 8.26 for each download.

We’ll guide you through three methods to download your PAN card effortlessly:

Method 1: Download e-PAN through NSDL Portal

The NSDL portal categorizes the e-PAN card download facility into two categories: PAN allotted in the last 30 days and PAN allotted older or more than 30 days. Below are the summarized steps to download the e-PAN card in both categories.

  1. Visit the NSDL e-PAN website or Direct link. (Skip 2, 3 step if you click Direct link)
  2. Under “Quick Links,” select “Download e-PAN/e-PAN XML.”
  3. Choose the appropriate option:
    • Download e-PAN/e-PAN XML (PANs allotted in last 30 days): If you applied for your PAN or made changes within the last month. This is free!
    • Download e-PAN/e-PAN XML (PANs allotted prior to 30 days): For older PANs. This incurs a fee of Rs. 8.26 (inclusive of taxes).
  4. Choose any one option that you have:
    • Acknowledgement Number
    • PAN Card Number
  5. Enter the following details:
    • PAN/Acknowledgement Number.
    • Enter your Aadhaar card number. (Only for individual)
    • Enter your Date of Birth. (As per Pan Card)
    • GSTIN Number (optional).
  6. Fill the captcha code and click ‘Submit‘.
  7. Choose any one options to receive OTP:
    • E-mail ID
    • Mobile Number
    • Both
  8. Click on ‘Generate OTP’.
  9. Enter OTP and click ‘Validate’.
  10. After successful validation, click on ‘Download PDF’.

The PDF file you download will have a password. The password will be the Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format.

For example, if your Date of Birth is June 13, 2000, the PDF password will be 13062000.

Method 2: Download e-PAN through UTIITSL Portal

The persons who have applied for fresh PAN, changes/correction or updates through UTIITSL can download Pan Card through UTI Infrastructure Technology And Service Limited (UTIITSL) website.

  1. Visit the UTIITSL website.
  2. Scroll down and click ‘Pan Card Services’.
  3. Click on ‘Download e-PAN’ section or Direct link here (Skip 2, 3 step).
  4. Enter the following details:
    • PAN Number.
    • Date of Birth. (As per Pan Card)
    • GSTIN Number (optional).
  5. Fill the captcha code and click ‘Submit’.
  6. Choose one options to receive OTP:
    • E-mail ID
    • Mobile Number
    • Both
  7. Click on ‘Generate OTP’.
  8. Enter OTP and click ‘Validate’.
  9. After successful validation, The link will be sent to the registered mobile number and/or the email address.
  10. Upon receiving the link, the applicant needs to click on it. Then, they can download the e-PAN card by using the OTP received on their mobile or email ID.

Method 3: Download e-PAN through Income Tax e-filing Website

This method is the most easiest way to download PAN Card through Income Tax e-filing website.

  1. Visit the Income Tax e-filing website.
  2. Click on “Instant e-PAN”.
  3. Click Continue on the “Check Status / Download PAN” option.
  4. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Card number and click Continue.
  5. Enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar and click Continue.
  6. Click View e-PAN to view or Download e-PAN to download a copy.

Additional notes:

  • Downloading an e-PAN for the first time within 30 days of application is free. After that, a nominal fee applies.
  • The downloaded e-PAN is a digitally signed PDF document valid for all e-filing and other purposes.
  • Ensure you have a reliable internet connection and a valid email address or mobile number before proceeding.
