Narendra Modi, the 14th and current Prime Minister of India, turns 73 on September 17, 2023. He is the first prime minister to be born after India’s independence in 1947.

Modi was born in Vadnagar, a small town in Gujarat, to a poor family. He sold tea on railway platforms as a child to help support his family. He later joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization.
