India would be 100% ready for ODI World Cup 2023 with Virat Kohli as captain: Rashid Latif

Kohli stepped down as India’s ODI captain in December 2022, after leading the team to 65 wins in 95 matches. He remains the captain of the Test and T20I teams.

Rahid Latif, who is a respected commentator and analyst, said that Virat Kohli has a “vision and a will to win” that is missing from the current Indian team.

“Virat Kohli has a very clear vision of how he wants to play the game,” Latif said in an interview to the Cricket Baaz YouTube channel. “He has a will to win and he is not afraid to take risks. This is what is needed in a captain.”

Latif also said that the current Indian team is lacking in “balance”.

“They have a lot of good batsmen, but they don’t have a good number four batsman,” he said. “This is a problem because if the top three batsmen get out early, then the team is in trouble.”

Latif believes that Kohli would have been able to address these issues and make India a more complete team.

“If they had allowed Virat Kohli to continue as captain, India would be 100 percent ready for the World Cup by this time,” he said.

India will be hosting the 2023 ODI World Cup, and they will be one of the favorites to win the title. However, Latif believes that they will have a tougher time if Kohli is not the captain.

“It will be difficult for India to win the World Cup without Virat Kohli as captain,” he said. “He is a big player and he brings a lot to the team.”

Only time will tell whether Latif is right. But one thing is for sure, India will be a much different team with Virat Kohli as captain.
