SS Rajamouli to present ‘Biopic of Indian Cinema’ titled Made in India: ‘Our boys are ready..’

SS Rajamouli, acclaimed for his larger-than-life cinematic creations like Baahubali 1 & 2 and RRR, is gearing up to present another masterpiece titled ‘Made In India’. The movie, directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya along with Varun Gupta, promises to be a visual treat for the audience with its rich narrative of the ‘birth and rise’ of Indian cinema.

The teaser of the upcoming project was unveiled on Tuesday and has already managed to create a huge buzz among fans of the acclaimed filmmaker.

The announcement teaser of the upcoming movie ‘Made in India’, which is said to be the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, says, “Indian cinema has witnessed many biopics. This is the biopic of Indian cinema. S S Rajamouli presents to you, Made in India.”

S.S Rajamouli expressed his “emotional” reaction to the movie’s story while releasing the first teaser. On X, he wrote, “When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it..:) With immense pride, Presenting MADE IN INDIA…”

Who is Dadasaheb Phalke?

Dadasaheb Phalke is widely known as the originator of Indian Cinema and is honoured as the ‘Father of Indian Cinema’. In 1913, he released the first full-length Indian feature film, Raja Harishchandra, and continued making more films in his career as a filmmaker, with a total of 27 short films and over 90 full-length movies.

Director Nitin Kakkar, known for his work in films such as Filmistaan (2012), Mitron (2018), Notebook (2019), Jawaani Jaaneman (2020), and Ram Singh Charlie (2020), is helming the yet-to-be-decided cast of this upcoming film. Notably, it is the first production venture of SS Karthikeya, who had previously worked as a line producer in his father’s last hit, RRR.

RRR: SS Rajamouli’s Epic Blockbuster

SS Rajamouli’s newly released movie, RRR, has been met with great success: it took home an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Naatu Naatu”. The energetic number, sung by lead actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR, was composed by MM Keeravaani and picked up the trophy with lyricist Chandrabose. In addition to the Academy Award, it also was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, beating out the likes of Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

RRR became one of the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema, grossing an impressive $130 million during its theatrical run.

Earlier, SS Rajamouli had previously stated his wish to make a movie in Hollywood. In a interview with the Awardist podcast of Entertainment Weekly Rajamouli said, “I think it is the dream of every filmmaker across the world to make a film in Hollywood. I am no different. I’m open to experimentation.”
