Basti, Uttar Pradesh: On Saturday, the police said that a man and his wife died after drinking poison, a few hours after the wife was gang-raped by a group of people in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district.
They also mentioned that FIR has been filed over the incident to the police, and two men have been arrested in connection with it.

A 30-year-old man and his 27-year-old wife drank poison early on Thursday. The husband passed away on the same day, while the wife died at a hospital in Gorakhpur on Friday, according to Basti SP Gopal Krishana, who shared this information on Saturday.
The family members of the couple claim that the wife was gang-raped by two men in her home in the Rudhauli police station area on the night between September 20 and 21, the SP said.
The police said that before they died, the couple made a video in which they talked about the people they believed were responsible for their troubles.

Before they reportedly took their own lives, the couple made a video in which they mentioned the names of the accused, according to the police.
Following a complaint made by the man’s brother, the police filed a report on Friday against the two men. They were charged under Sections 376 D for gang rape and 306 for abetment to suicide, according to the SP.

The accused, Adarsh (25) and Triloki (45), have been taken into custody, and the police are currently investigating the case,” he added.
UP Couple’s Kids said
The couple’s kids said to the police that on Friday morning, while they were getting ready for school, their parents told them they had taken poison and were going to die, the police said.
Police also said that, the family consists of three kids: two boys, one is eight years old and the other is six, and they also have a one-year-old daughter.
In the beginning stages of the investigation, they found that the gang rape case is connected to the sale of the land that the victim owns.
